What is an IFSC code?
An IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is an 11-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a single bank branch anywhere in India. The first four characters are the bank's code (e.g. "HDFC" for HDFC Bank), the fifth character is always a fixed "0" (reserved for future use), and the last six characters identify the exact branch. Banks and payment apps need your correct IFSC code to route NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, and UPI transfers to the right branch — an incorrect IFSC code is one of the most common reasons a bank transfer bounces or gets delayed.
How this tool looks up an IFSC code
Type or paste an 11-character IFSC code (printed on your chequebook, passbook, or bank statement) and this tool validates the format instantly, then fetches the branch name, full address, city, district, state, and contact number for that exact branch — usually in well under a second. Everything runs directly from your browser to a free, public IFSC lookup service, so there's nothing to sign up for and no data is stored beyond your own browser tab, where a successful result is kept briefly to make a repeat search of the same code instant.
If the lookup service is temporarily busy
This tool depends on a third-party lookup service, which occasionally has a slow moment. If that happens, you'll see a clear "service busy" message instead of a blank page — just try again in a few seconds. In the meantime, every IFSC code's branch details are also printed on your chequebook and bank passbook, and available inside your bank's own mobile or net-banking app under "branch details" or "manage beneficiary".
